The 2024 Livestock Access Pass training will be held in May 20, 2025

For the purpose of this program, a commercial livestock operator is defined as an owner of livestock consisting of 50 head of livestock (including in utero, e.g. 25 bred cows), 500 poultry or rabbits, or 50 beehives or more that reside in Amador County at least a portion of the year, or a person who, through an agreement with that owner of the livestock, has authority and is responsible to oversee the care and well-being of the owner’s livestock. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE HORSES!

The California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating youth throughout California about the importance of agriculture in their daily lives. We do this through:

  • Developing materials that are accurate, teacher-tested and scientifically sound to enhance the educational experience of K-12 students.
  • Providing programs, inspiration and training opportunities for educators.
  • Partnering with like-minded organizations to create awareness about the significance of agriculture in our everyday lives.
  • Recognizing teachers and students for their achievements in agricultural literacy.
  • Supporting the pursuit of agricultural careers and continuing education.

Our mission is to increase awareness and understanding of agriculture among California’s educators and students. Our vision is an appreciation of agriculture by all.

Gold Country Young Farmers and Ranchers is a chapter of the California Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmers and Ranchers looking to serve Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties. 

Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) is a committee of the Farm Bureau that organizes young people between the ages of 18-35 who support the agricultural community.  Young Farmers and Ranchers develop leadership skills while volunteering time as active, vital members of the county Farm Bureaus. 

As a member of YF&R you will have the opportunity to attend seminars and conferences that will provide leadership training as well as broadening your knowledge of agriculture.  Additional opportunities include meeting and working with elected officials and making valuable professional contacts.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE NOW AVAILABLE!
The Amador County Farm Bureau awards four $1000.00 scholarships to graduating Seniors in Amador County, or college students originally from Amador County, who are pursuing a career in Agriculture or Agriculture-related industries. Students can be attending a 2 or 4 year college or trade school. For students not attending our local high schools, please submit the application, essay and transcripts by March 14, 2025 for consideration.

Amador Farm Day Event

Students spend the day learning about farms, ranches, and how food gets to the table. They also learn about the biodiversity of Amador’s regions, from timber forests to croplands. There are over 24 interactive stations that satisfy state curriculum standards, demonstrating to the children how agriculture gets from the farm to their forks.

The Amador County Farm Bureau is a non-government non-profit membership organization. We work to promote and protect farm, ranch and forestland for the production of agricultural products in Amador County.We advocate on behalf of agricultural producers at all levels of government to allow our family farmers to continue producing the agricultural products that we all require.
